Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partner Whitfield and Brown have now successfully completed a programme of refurbishment works, compromising of multiple teaching rooms over three campus buildings, on behalf of Client Hugh Baird College.
The project was secured via the Procure Partnerships North West Framework.
The project Included complete strip out and reinstatement of mechanical and electrical services, new flooring, paint, decoration, interactive white boards, and furniture.
Although most of the construction works took place whilst students were absent Whitfield and Brown made it a priority for the project to be delivered in a safe manner and to avoid as little interruption to the curriculum as possible.
These changes included carrying out new Toolbox Talks, updating the RAMS to ensure that the new “live environment” was considered and segregations on sites so that the students and teachers were protected from the works and to prevent unauthorised access into the classrooms which were being worked on.
In addition, due to the shared access, with construction staff using the same access points as students and staff, barriers and site protection was erected to ensure that all site works remained segregated and secure. These changes were all delivered smoothly, with no impact on time or health and safety. there were no reportable accidents/incidents on site throughout the programme.
In A further bid to reduce strain on the live environment Whitfield and Brown introduced A phased completion plan. This ensured work was completed on specific classrooms within each phase and successfully handed over before starting on the next.
The phasing plan enabled snagging to be completed throughout the works, ensuring timely handovers of the classrooms which met both the construction programme and the requirements of the college.
