At Procure Partnerships Framework reinvesting in people and their local communities is at the heart of delivering sustainable projects that leave a lasting legacy. By placing the Social Value of a project ahead of cost at the procurement stage of construction works and focusing on the wider benefits that projects can bring to people and local communities, public sector bodies can extract greater value from their investment. Increased training and employment opportunities for local people is key to this.
Under the guidance of Procure Partnerships Framework three contractors appointed to our North West Framework have collaborated to demonstrate their commitment to building a positive legacy in the communities they operate within.
ISG, Bardsley, and Laing O’Rourke came together October 17th to exhibit the career opportunities available in the built environment sector across the North West on behalf of Procure Partnerships Framework.
The event, hosted at ISG’s MediaCityUk office saw a group of 24 parents, teachers, careers advisors and students come together for a presentation and discussion of the career opportunities available in construction.
Lynn Fletcher, Senior Sustainability Advisor, gave an overview of the Go Construct website and took the attendees through the resources it provides. Following the presentations, the attendees took part in a networking session with Lynn Fletcher and Emma Wiseman, Hr Manager at Bardsley Construction.
Neil Walker, Framework Director at ISG, commented on the event: “Encouraging young people to consider a career in construction, and sharing some of the fantastic opportunities that are available, is a real priority for us. We are committed to leaving a lasting legacy in the communities in which we work and events like this are a great way to do this.
“It’s also encouraging to see so many young people coming along themselves, putting their future in their own hands, and we hope it’s the beginning of an exciting journey for them.”
Following the event, all three contractors were contacted by many interested parties excited by the opportunities highlighted at the event; ISG, Bardsley, and Laing O’Rourke continue to maintain a dialogue with teachers, careers advisors, parents, and students with a new found interest in the built environment. One of the students in attendance went on to take part in ISG’s World of Work Experience (WOWEX) programme, the student has now secured an offer of a placement with an Architectural practice for December.

Faye’s journey within Procure Partnerships began in 2018 as a Key Account Manager, initially overseeing the North West region and later extending her purview to the entire North.
