Site Visit: Procure Partnerships Framework joins ISG at Lancashire Fire and Rescue

On Tuesday 14th of September, Procure Partnerships Framework and ISG made a joint site visit to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s new Breathing Apparatus (BA) School at West Way, Chorley.

Both Procure Partnerships Framework and ISG spent the morning on a detailed tour of the site learning the ins and outs of the training that will be provided at the BA school. It was apparent to all how significant the design collaboration between the professional services team and ISG has been to delivering the scheme smoothly; credit to all involved.

ISG is on-site making brilliant progress on the £4m scheme. The Breathing Apparatus School is nearing completion and has been designed as a self-contained and self-sufficient facility with a network of classrooms and workshop areas where delegates will learn how to prepare, operate and service compressed air breathing apparatus. Facilities include the provision of showers and changing spaces along with an innovative dirty-to-clean layout designed to minimise the spread of, and exposure to, contaminants during the removal of equipment and changing out of personal protective equipment.

Paul Collins, Framework Manager, ISG, commented: “We enjoyed welcoming Procure Partnerships to the BA Training School site today. This project is delivering fantastic outcomes not just for the fire service but also for the wider local community. It was great to share these with the Procure Partnerships team, allowing those involved during the project’s infancy to get a glimpse of the facility as it nears completion. This reflects our commitment to working in true partnership with our framework partners, ensuring collaboration through all stages of the project lifecycle”.

Robbie Blackhurst, Framework Director, commented: “It was great to visit the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Breathing Apparatus (BA) School as it comes to completion. At Procure Partnerships Framework we feel it is important to not only be involved in pre-construction but also in each stage of the project, demonstrated by our joint site visit with our contractor partners ISG. Thank you to the ISG team for inviting us along and showing us around the site!”

ISG has faced many challenges on-site such as dealing with degassing of contaminants and in particular carcinogens from PPE but as ISG nears completion their continued commitment and professionalism throughout the scheme so far is clearly evident.

The project is due for completion by the end of October 2021.
