Stepnell Transforms Royal United Hospitals with £2M Renovation

Contractor Partners, Stepnell, have completed a programme of renovation works for framework users The Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

This project was secured via the Procure Partnerships South West Framework, with Stepnell awarded through a Two Stage Mini Competition call-off procedure. The project was monitored using Compliance Chain.

As part of the £2m renovation works, Stepnell installed 28 new ensuite facilities across the Haygarth, Forrester Brown, Pierce, and Acute Stroke wards at the hospital. Additionally, an existing bathroom was converted into a storeroom in the Acute Stroke Unit, and various drainage and ancillary services were completed within a span of just 23 weeks.

To successfully execute the project, Stepnell engaged with local subcontractors and prioritised local supply chain spending from Bath and its surrounding areas. This approach not only created and sustained local jobs but also boosted the local economy.

Rob Speirs, Director at Stepnell, stated, “We are continuing to see an increase in projects come through with a significant proportion of our planned work with Procure Partnerships Framework (PPF) projects to meet public sector demand. Our work with RUH Bath is a prime example of these quality works, which adds to our substantial portfolio of healthcare expertise.”

Lauren Banks, Key Account Manager (West), Procure Partnerships Framework: “I’m delighted that Procure Partnerships was able to support these works with Royal Bath NHS to appoint Stepnell. Stepnell have really demonstrated what a collaborative approach can achieve, it’s excellent to see that these projects have been delivered on time and is already providing such a benefit to the local community and the hospitals. Well done to all involved!”
