Carmelcrest Complete New Modern Clinic Rooms For Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust

Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partner Carmelcrest have successfully completed a programme of refurbishment works to create new modern clinic rooms with the installation of a lift through the centre of the building making the space more accessible for all users and members of staff at Park Drive Health Centre, on behalf of Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.

The project was secured via the Procure Partnerships East of England Framework.

The Carmelcrest team installed the lift, remodelled internal areas to create additional clinic rooms, created new DDA compliant toilets, and undertook decorations throughout the building including new ceilings and flooring installations. Fire stopping works were carried out throughout, including the installation of fire rated windows and doors.

The project was undertaken within an occupied healthcare setting therefore minimising disruption was of paramount importance. In line with this, the programme for the works was tight as this would in turn minimise disruption and allow the Trust to utilise the working areas as soon as possible reducing patient waiting times. To minimise disruption and reduce work created by the roof removal option, Carmelcrest moved the lift into the building in sections out of hours and used on site pre-fabrication methods. This ultimately reduced the need of additional work thus reducing risk of programme and budget spiralling.

Jonathan Flynn, Carmelcrest Project Manager, Commented: “Working collaboratively with Hertfordshire NHS Trust was essential to the successful delivery of the scheme. Our experienced team and approved local supply chain worked tirelessly to deliver the project to an extremely high quality, allowing the NHS staff to swiftly move into their new clinical rooms and continue to deliver the outstanding care they do to local communities.”

Conor Neild Crabb, Kay Account Manager, Procure Partnerships, Commented: “We’re really pleased to have facilitated this Direct Award to Carmelcrest; which allowed the Trust to compliantly meet its tight deadline for the works. The rapid appointment allowed for an early, collaborative relationship with the client and their consultant team. The minimum disruption to patient waiting times in this live healthcare setting was a key factor and an area that Carmelcrest performed exceptionally well in; a credit to therein programming. I’m delighted we had the opportunity to Support Hertfordshire NHS Trust and hope to continue the relationship with the Trust.”
