Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partner Stepnell is currently on-site working on A programme of £1M refurbishment and relocation works at the Harborne Building on behalf of Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The project was secured via the Procure Partnerships South East Framework.
This project involves a series of refurbishment works to allow for the relocation of the Pathology department from the Royal Berkshire Hospital site to a new location. The refurbishment of the first-floor building will accommodate new laboratories and consultant rooms for the pathology labs.
The building is shared with the University of Reading, with the university occupying the ground floor and Stepnell working on the first floor. Good lines of communication have been established and segregations are in place to avoid disturbance, key to the project’s success so far.
Stepnell have also taken the proper precautions to ensure more complicated aspects of the scheme have been completed successfully and safely, such as asbestos removal works, and major demolition works. These works have been surveyed, planned and managed onsite.
Jamie White, Contracts Manager, Stepnell Commented: “We are making good progress on this exciting refurbishment and relocation project, working alongside the hospital staff, forming an excellent working relationship to ensure minimum disruption to their daily routines. We are looking forward to completing the project and for the staff to enjoy their new facilities.”
Phil Osborne, Key Account Manager, Procure Partnerships, Commented: “Procure Partnerships Framework are delighted to be working with Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust on a number of major projects on not only the Trust site at Reading but including the Harborne Building at the University of Reading site. This project follows on from the successfully completed New covid-19 Lighthouse Laboratory set up in the Bracknell Healthspace”.
