Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering begins work on Waltham Cross Regeneration

Project sourced through Procure Partnerships Framework, Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering is proud to announce the commencement of regeneration works in Waltham Cross Town Centre, following a groundbreaking ceremony held on Thursday, 12 September 2024.

Key stakeholders, including representatives from Broxbourne Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council, and the MP for Broxbourne, joined Danaher & Walsh to mark the start of this significant transformation project.

As the appointed contractor, Danaher & Walsh will lead the delivery of the project, which focuses on modernising and revitalising the town centre. Our work will include the installation of high-quality paving, new street furniture, lighting, seating, and landscaped play areas. The project is set to transform the outdated redbrick walkways into contemporary light grey paving, designed to complement the nearby Queen Eleanor Square (which Danaher & Walsh regenerated in 2019) and bring a fresh, modern aesthetic to the area.

Additionally, the scheme will implement vital pedestrian and highway improvements, including new crossings along Monarchs Way to provide safer and easier access to the town centre. As part of these changes, the old underpass linking the town centre with Stanhope Road will be closed, improving the safety and overall experience for residents and visitors.

In line with the broader vision of creating a safer and more vibrant town centre, the works will also see the reintroduction of limited vehicular traffic through the area, enhancing opportunities for the nighttime economy while ensuring public safety.

Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering is excited to be part of this ambitious regeneration project, which aligns with Broxbourne Borough Council’s vision of creating a more welcoming, vibrant, and prosperous community. The final designs were informed by public consultations and were made possible through successful Government funding.

We are committed to delivering the highest quality work on this project and look forward to seeing the town centre transformation unfold over the coming months. The works are expected to be completed by autumn 2025, providing a lasting legacy for the local community.
