Stepnell Complete Pathology Department For Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust

Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partner Stepnell have recently completed a programme of £1M refurbishment and relocation works at the Harborne Building on behalf of Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

This healthcare project was secured via the Procure Partnerships South East Framework under a direct award call-off procedure.

This programme of works aided the relocation of the Pathology department from the Royal Berkshire site to the new Harborne Building location. The first floor building was then fully refurbished to accommodate new laboratories and consultant rooms for the labs.

The building is shared with the University of Reading, with the university occupying the ground floor and Stepnell working on the first floor. Good lines of communication were established, and segregations were in place to avoid disturbance.

Along with the relocation and refurbishment, challenges such as asbestos removal works and major demolition works were undertaken. These were surveyed, planned, and managed onsite by the Stepnell team.

Chris Witterick, Key Account Manager, Procure Partnerships Framework: “We are delighted to have supported Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust to complete these vital refurbishment works. Despite some of the logistical challenges, it has been great for Procure Partnerships Framework to play a key role in another successful project in the South East region. It has been a pleasure to work with Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and I’m looking forward to supporting them again in the future.”
