Robertson Delivers Innovative Day Care Centre, Easing NHS Backlog and Transforming Patient Care

Contractor Partners Robertson recently completed a programme of Design and Build Works with the construction of a Day Care Centre on behalf of Framework Users Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The new Day Care Centre provides increased capacity, enabling more patients to be seen and treated in a timely manner. This will help address the backlog of patients waiting for surgery and help ensure that those in need of urgent care can receive it as soon as possible.

This project was secured via the Procure Partnerships North East Framework with Robertson awarded under a Direct Award call-off procedure. This project was monitored via Compliance Chain

The new centre includes four operating theatres, each with an anaesthetic room, and dedicated area designed to carry out low complexity, minor procedures that do not require an overnight stay. Further features include reception, waiting area, staff welfare, 20 beds, associated plant and storage facilities.

The new facility will provide job opportunities by bringing new people into these vital occupations, creating a more comprehensive and adaptable service that is better able to meet the needs of patients.

The Day Care Centre has now been handed over to the trust and open for patient use.

Garry Hope, Regional Managing Director: “To successfully deliver this project in the challenging timescales was achieved through collaboration, excellent teamwork and a positive, can do attitude from everyone involved.”

Natalie Palframan, Key Account Manager Procure Partnerships framework: “We are proud to be able to have contributed to this project which will help to reduce the impact of long NHS waiting lists for patients. The Day Treatment Centre will not only directly benefit those waiting for medical appointments, but also result in long-term improvements in the efficiency of the health service”
