Progress Update: Building Safety Works at Navigation and Windward Court

Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partners Vinci Construction are making excellent progress on a programme of Building Safety Works at Navigation and Windward Court, on behalf of One Housing Group.

This housing Project was procured via the Procure Partnerships London Framework under a two stage call-off procedure.

The EWS1, External Wall System Fire Review certificate, will ensure Navigation and Windward Court residents are protected against internal and external fire risks. This is done by removing any combustible materials from the building and installing the correct fire breaks.

Vinci Construction has stripped existing cladding down to the Steel Frame Structure Zone on both Navigation and Windward Courts, removed all combustible materials and replaced them with new A1/A2 rated non-combustible materials. This includes replacing timber decking on all balconies with the Neaco Balcony Decking System and removing flammable materials behind aluminium spandrel panels.

There are various construction projects happening around the site which in turn makes site logistics and traffic management plans difficult to organise however, Throughout the project, Vinci has ensured that no disruption or inconvenience is caused to residents or the community, and that client requirements are met in terms of health and safety and quality of work.

The project is scheduled to be completed in early 2023

Priscilla Adeyanju, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, commented: “We appreciate how important each cladding project is and are proud to be part of the scheme, thus we hope to obtain an EWS1 form at the end of the project for our client to ensure residents safety and to ensure the building protects them from any fire risk”
