Progress Update: Blackpool Enterprise Zone

Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partner Eric Wright is currently on-site making great progress on a series of new build work to create a Large-Scale Industrial Unit and Car Park, on behalf of Blackpool Council, valued at £4.2M.

The project was secured via the Procure Partnerships North West Framework.

The industrial unit will be used to house Multiply Manufacturing, an organisation that manufactures carbon fibre components for the healthcare sector. The unit will include ancillary office and storage provision, alongside associated parking, a substation, switch room, gas meter, refuge area, a new vehicular access, servicing area, boundary treatment and hard and soft landscaping works.

The unit is located near the coast meaning the perimeter of the site had to install a dewatering system to pump ground water to reduce the water table. The location is also situated within the Blackpool Airport area, meaning contact had to be made to obtain permits for piling rigs and cranes to operate in the air space. despite initial delays to the project due to these factors Eric Wright is progressing well with project.

Stuart Law, Site Manager, Eric Wright Construction, commented: “The scheme has its challenges but also with this unit being the first on the next phase of the Blackpool Enterprise Zone it is our flag ship build for hopefully more projects with Blackpool Council and the Enterprise Zone”.

Natalie Palframan, Key Account Manager, Commented: “We’re pleased to have supported Blackpool Council to procure their contractor partner for the scheme and it’s fantastic to see Eric Wright making progress. We’re looking forward to seeing the Enterprise Zone continue to develop”.
