Procure Partnerships Framework contractor partner Galliford Try is currently on-site making excellent progress as the new Bevan Intermediate Care unit, on behalf of Salford City Council, starts to take shape. The project consists of a 2 storey 60 bed Intermediate Care unit on the site of the Stott Lane car park, beside Salford Royal Hospital.
Following a single stage competitive tender process Galliford Try was chosen to deliver the scheme through the Procure Partnerships North West Framework.
The scheme is due to hand over in October 2021
The main steelworks are due for completion shortly and work on the internal drainage has commenced. Galliford Try are aiming to have the drainage, Substructure brickwork and slab prep complete within the next 4 weeks. Also, within this time, Galliford Try will commence work on the decking and concreate work to the upper floors and services ducting from the Salford Royal Hospital.
Regular quality checks continue with weekly building control visits and inspection of aspects such as earthworks, drainage and concrete being closely considered. Design meetings are also taking place regularly with DAY Architectural (DAY architectural is appointed to the Procure Partnerships Framework Professional Services Agreement). Close consideration of environmental and sustainability attributes is now being tracked via and updated BREEAM tracker.
Alongside this ongoing project, we are delighted to see Galliford Try is dedication to continued social value work and activities despite the changing circumstance and restrictions, with Covid still playing a part in stopping school interactions and community events.
Some of these social value activities include:
– Clearing the conservatory area at Buille Hill park to allow gardening and allotments facilities.
– Mentoring sessions to 4 students at risk of leaving school have taken place. These are time lined every two weeks and will result in a work placement at the Salford site.
– the first ex-offender mentoring circle has been delivered which included pre-employment training for when offenders are released, some have already been released and are on probation
– Galliford Try will recruit one local individual via the new government KickStart scheme. At the moment 3 have applied, with interviews starting over the coming weeks.
