Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partner, Galliford Try has been appointed to construct the new Community Cluster on behalf of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The Community Cluster is the latest development on an Alder Hey campus that already includes a specialist state-of-the-art children’s hospital, a specialist research, education and innovation centre, an Innovation Hub, an NIHR Clinical Research Facility as well as the ‘Alder Hey Academy’.
The £15m development includes the construction of a new build facility that will provide space for mental health and neurodevelopmental outpatient facilities and a 12-bed specialist inpatient mental health Unit, alongside other cross dependent health services. There will be space for therapeutic gardens, undercroft parking and a community police hub.
Enabling works are commencing this month, with the facility due for completion in 2021.
Alder Hey’s aim is to create “a parkland community for children” with the Community Cluster forming a key element of the growing Alder Hey Campus, the facility will bring a centre of excellence for Children’s health closer to nature within a newly created landscape.
