In September 2021 Procure Partnerships Framework Contractor Partners Burmor Construction completed a programme of New Build works with the design and build of 27 new dwellings on behalf of framework users Cross Keys Homes in Elm, Wisbech.
This £3.7M housing project was secured via the Procure Partnerships East of England Framework with Burmor Construction appointed under a Two Stage call-off procedure.
The purpose of this project was to deliver 27 well needed affordable homes to the local community. This included 4 different home types ranging from 2-4 beds. The tenure of this site was split between 14 Shared Ownership homes and 13 Affordable Rent homes.
As with many Burmor projects, the scheme was built using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). MMC significantly increased the speed of the build and reduced the time on site meaning the homes could be occupied sooner than originally planned. This also meant that time on site was significantly reduced causing less disruption to the local community.
Patrick Burke, Director at Burmor Construction, Commented: “We are pleased to have completed another quality housing project in partnership with our client Cross Keys Homes, and hope the residents will enjoy living in the new properties we have built. The 27 new homes on this site were built using Modern Methods of Construction, which allowed us to hand the project over three months ahead of schedule, as well as providing high quality, thermally efficient homes for the new residents.”
Claire Higgins, Cross Keys Homes Chief Executive, Commented: “With the high cost of home ownership, in many cases standstill salaries, and many of those who are in private rented properties struggling to pay for their home, truly affordable homes are needed more than ever before and we are committed to ensuring we do all that we can to help.”
Conor Neild-Crabb, Key Account Manager at Procure Partnerships Framework, Commented: “We’re delighted to see Burmor hand over 27 new affordable homes at Grove Gardens; one of the first schemes procured via the East Midlands Lot of the Procure Partnerships Framework is now complete and Burmor has delivered an excellent outcome for Cross Keys Homes. We’re glad to have supported the scheme and will make sure that the lessons learnt can be shared amongst the Framework partners as we continue to successfully support residential developments in the East Midlands and further afield. Burmor’s commitment to MMC is superb and no doubt speaks to their successes under the framework. Now that the scheme is complete it will be fantastic to see the new residents move into these homes, it’s great for the area. Congratulations to all involved as it’s been a great scheme to be involved with.”
