Key Account Manager Conor Neild-Crabb recently joined our Contractor Partners Willmott Dixon on the live Bingham Leisure Centre site, a £15m development on behalf of Rushcliffe Borough Council.
The project was secured via the Procure Partnerships East Midland Framework.
The new leisure centre is being built as part of Bingham’s Masterplan and will see the creation of a new two-storey leisure centre featuring two swimming pools, a fitness gym, workout studios and adjacent community hall with staging and seating. The centre will also include a commercial office block that will support local start-up businesses.
The project team have surpassed the key operations milestones to date, working tirelessly to achieve this. The glulam beams are suspended above the newly constructed concrete pool base, the steel frame for both the Arena and Enterprise Centre signify the start of the external envelope and roof activities commencement.
Willmott Dixon have received great praise from our client, and it is easy to see why from Conor’s visit to the site. The team are truly going above and beyond to deliver a first-class facility with social value at its heart.
The Project is due to complete in Spring 2022.
Kath Marriott, Rushcliffe Borough Council, commented: “The Willmott Dixon team are easy to work with. An early workshop to capture everyone’s vision and priorities enabled us to align our thinking and was very useful to build the team from the outset, particularly as we were working remotely and via Teams platforms throughout the early stages of the project due to Covid restrictions.”
“The Willmott Dixon team have a dedicated social value officer on our project who has arranged a number of school learning events, apprenticeships and works experience, which is important to us, as is delivering the project with local work force and local trade where possible. 80% of the workforce are employed locally. Willmott Dixon are working with several local social enterprises for recruitment to roles on site and delivery of work packages. We still have a year to go but so far, our experience with Willmott Dixon has been very positive!”
Zoe Anastasi, Community and Social Value Manager, commented: “We have created local employment opportunities and almost 80% of our site labour is sourced from within 20 miles. The team have commissioned over £23k of services with local Social Enterprises Radiant Cleaners, all of which results in sustained employment for local people.”
“Total Social return on investment is over £3m. This includes our volunteer hours supporting local schools and colleges with careers and employability sessions, as well as local spend and local labour and the team have hosted 40 weeks of apprentice time on site.”
Conor Neild-Crabb, Key Account Manager, Procure Partnerships Framework, Commented: “Thank you so much to Willmott Dixon for inviting me to visit Bingham Leisure Centre, it was an absolute pleasure meeting the site team and I’m so grateful for the tour of the site; it’s a fantastic scheme providing local employment, first class leisure facilities, and space for new local businesses to grow! What an impressive site, delivering brilliant outcomes through the Procure Partnerships East Midlands Framework for Rushcliffe Borough Council!”
