Seddon Bromborough Fire Station Refurb Merseyside Fire
“It’s vital that our crews have a place where they can plan, train, respond, and recover from the challenges of their role. This station provides exactly that”
Chief Fire Officer, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service

Seddon Construction has completed a £1.7m refurbishment of Bromborough Community Fire Station for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, officially reopening in March 2025, all while keeping the station fully operational throughout.

Procured via the Procure Partnerships Framework
The project upgraded the facility for modern use while Seddon managed the live site throughout, ensuring emergency response remained uninterrupted from day one to completion
Delivered on a live site
Seddon’s expertise in managing live-site projects was central to the success of this scheme. Throughout the 31-week programme, the station remained fully operational answering emergency calls without interruption while the refurbishment work continued around the crew.
The seamless transition between renovation and operation demonstrates a careful approach to phasing, programme management, and close collaboration with MFRS staff on site.

A modern, energy-efficient station fit for frontline service
The renovation included a complete roof replacement and extensive upgrades to the interior, mechanical, and electrical systems. Traditional fossil fuel boilers and gas systems were removed and replaced with renewable energy sources, playing a critical role in MFRS’s wider decarbonisation goals.
The improvements are expected to enhance both the efficiency and environmental performance of the station for years to come, while reducing long-term energy costs.
