Procure Partnerships Framework contractor partner Eric Wright is currently on-site making great progress refurbishing the new Manchester Metropolitan University Institute of Sport facility, designed by architecture firm BDP, due to open in 2022 in time for the academic year.
At present, despite Covid restrictions, excellent progress is being made with the completion of the majority of the internal works.
In addition to this, the support steel installation, the facade, roof removal work’s and the installation of the roof steal are now complete with the Sidney Street and north elevation steel works well underway. Installation of the CW framing has commenced to the north elevation one week ahead of the intended programme.
The south and east facades will feature a three-storey glazed elevation connecting learning spaces to the wider All Saints Campus. The north and east sides will be retained and clad in dark grey recyclable panels.
The teaching and research facility will house the departments of sports and exercise science and intends on becoming a ‘centre of excellence’ by producing research in musculoskeletal science and including the faculties of Science and Engineering, Business and Law, and Health, Psychology and Social Care.
Phil Osbourne, Key Account Manager at Procure Partnerships commented: “Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to providing a first class environment for its students and faculty, their continued investment in the campus is testament to this. We are delighted to work with Manchester Metropolitan University to facilitate this.”
