Across Yorkshire, NHS organisations are investing in their estates to ensure healthcare facilities remain safe, resilient and fit for future generations of patients. One of the most significant challenges facing the region is the management and remediation of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC), requiring carefully planned programmes of refurbishment, reconfiguration and estate transformation.
At Airedale General Hospital, three major projects delivered by Robertson Construction Group through the Procure Partnerships Yorkshire Construction Framework are helping to address these challenges. Together, the schemes represent almost £14m of investment, supporting service continuity while creating safer and more modern environments for patients and staff.
Service Reprovision, Teal House | AGH Solutions Limited
As part of Airedale General Hospital’s wider response to reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) across the estate, Robertson has commenced the £5.5m reconfiguration of Teal House Blocks A and B, former residential accommodation being adapted to provide essential clinical and non-clinical space, including Healthcare Psychology and employee wellbeing services.
A direct award call-off was selected due to the urgent nature of the works, building on Robertson’s existing experience across the Airedale estate. Block A is being adapted for non-patient facing services, while Block B will house specialist departments requiring privacy and controlled access.
The project is delivering significant social value for the Airedale community, with a focus on local employment, apprenticeships, accredited training, and procurement through local supply chains and SMEs.

RAAC Remediation Phase 5, Ward 1 | AGH Solutions Limited
Continuing the wider RAAC remediation programme at Airedale General Hospital, Robertson has commenced the £3.89m refurbishment and structural remediation of Ward 1, delivering essential upgrades to structural elements, internal layouts, and building services within a live hospital environment.
Early contractor involvement has again proved invaluable, enabling Robertson to engage with AGH Solutions Limited and the design team from an early stage to shape the project brief and identify key risks specific to RAAC construction and the age of the existing buildings.
The project has set a social value target of £466k, with over £1.2m already committed during pre-construction, a significant uplift in planned community benefit.

RAAC Remediation Phase 5, Ward 9 | AGH Solutions Limited
Rounding out this phase of activity at Airedale, Robertson has commenced the £4.5m refurbishment and upgrade of Ward 9, improving the quality, safety, and functionality of the ward for patients and staff as part of the Trust’s wider RAAC remediation programme.
As with Ward 1, early engagement through the framework has enabled Robertson to begin shaping the design, programme, and delivery strategy from the outset, with particular focus on fire safety, asbestos considerations, and integration of updated building services.
An initial social value target of £492k (12%) has been set, with over £903k already committed during pre-construction.
