At Procure Partnerships Framework, we believe every project presents an opportunity to leave a positive, lasting legacy for the communities it serves.
The greatest projects create meaningful social value, supporting education, improving wellbeing, protecting the environment and strengthening local communities long after construction has finished.
One example of this in action is a recent Forest School initiative delivered by our Contractor P artner, Danaher & Walsh, as part of its social value commitments while delivering the Bus Service Improvement Programme for Derbyshire County Council.
Creating spaces that inspire future generations
Working alongside local partners, Danaher & Walsh transformed an underused outdoor area into a dedicated outdoor Forest School learning environment, creating an engaging natural space where children can learn, explore and develop confidence outside the traditional classroom.
Forest School environments have been shown to support children’s confidence, communication, social development and wellbeing by encouraging regular outdoor learning and child-led exploration. Research also highlights wider benefits including improved motivation, teamwork and physical development.
Building Social Value from Day One
One of the key advantages of procuring through Procure Partnerships Framework is the opportunity to embed social value commitments from the earliest stages of project planning.
By bringing clients and contractors together through a collaborative procurement process, supported by a dedicated Social Value Advisor, expectations around social value can be established before work begins.
This ensures social value becomes an integral part of project delivery, rather than an afterthought.
Jack Neath, Social Value Advisor, Procure Partnerships Framework:
“Exposure to nature is an essential tool for promoting wellbeing and positive mental health. In fact, some studies estimate regular access to green space can reduce GP visits by 28%.
Danaher & Walsh, like many of our contractors, recognise the importance of this. Through dedicating their time and resources to improving the public realm, they leave the communities they serve happier and healthier than when they found them.”
Jordan Rhoda, Framework Manager (Infrastructure), Procure Partnerships Framework:
“Civil Engineering projects are often overlooked for the social value impact that they can make, though this scheme delivered by Danaher & Walsh is a brilliant demonstration that civil works, road schemes, and infrastructure improvements can enhance and leave legacies on the nearby community.”
